Effective instruction includes: explicit, systematic, intensive, multi-sensory, differentiated, and monitored learning. Those six core principles are at the root of every lesson plan I create for my students.
I use evidence-based methods for teaching literacy (reading and writing) using the Structured Literacy and Orton-Gillingham approach by personally individualizing and differentiating effective lesson plans that follow a carefully designed scope and sequence.
Not only do I include skills that will close the gap between where your child is and where they need to be; I include relevant, real-world lessons that align with State Standards.
It is my number one job to make sure your child’s tutoring sessions are engaging. So, I include multi-sensory activities not only as an evidence-based practice but this way, learning can become exciting and memorable.
I am also trauma-informed and include fun brain breaks and mindfulness activities to promote executive functioning and a calm, comfortable, and confident learning environment.
Parents will also have access to their child's entire Google Drive Folder.

My child has an IEP and/ or 504. Would he/she benefit from your services?
Absolutely! Literacy Wise+ benefits every students’ learning potential. If your student has an IEP and/ or 504; it is my ethical, moral, and lawful responsibility to make sure I include your child’s learning goals into each session and individualized lesson plan.
What if I think my child has a learning disability but is not currently diagnosed?
I can most definitely support every family during this time in your child's life! Although I am no doctor who has the ability to diagnose your child, I can help every family navigate how to receive additional support from school (i.e. starting the IEP or 504 process) and also, as always, individualize each session to ensure your child is making the progress he/ she needs!

“At first I couldn’t believe how much (student) actually loved his sessions with you but then after 2 months of watching his growth, it brings tears to my eyes.”

if your child’s tutor is not using Structured Literacy or Orton-Gillingham practices, they are teaching your child how to read using their intuition… which is great and all if you want to teach your child how to become a psychic. 😉
